Few cities in the world have embraced social change as heartily as MANCHESTER. From the Industrial Revolution to a test-bed of contemporary urban design, the city exists with no similar rival domestically. Whether it be the outstanding success of football or the thriving music and cultural scene that has given birth to world-beaters as diverse as the Halls Orchestra and Joy Division.

Moreover, the city's cutting-edge concert halls, theatre, clubs and cafes society are boosted by one of England's largest student populations and a blooming gay community. Manchester is first and foremost a Victorian manufacturing city with the imposing streets and buildings to match, resulting in some stunning architecture and diverse street atmospheres, alongside a revitalised city centre with some striking buildings to catch your eye throughout!

The city centre possesses the enjoyable Manchester Art Gallery, surrounded by Northern England's largest Chinatown, and not far from there, the extensive Museum of Science and Industry, next door to the canal footpaths of the creatively revamped Castlefield district. Further out, to the west, are the revamped Salford Quays, home to two prestigious museums, The Lowry arts centre, and the stirring and stunning Imperial War Museum North.

To the north of the centre, the Northern Northern Quarter is Manchester's main district for independent retailers (impressively housed within the maze-like Afflecks Palace), where all types of vintage clothing and alternative music can be found, tucked within buzzing pubs, restaurants and cafes the likes of which can't be found anywhere else in the city. It is also the area home to the Manchester Craft and Design Centre, where local designers put on show their latest creations. Further afield from the city, many delightful attractions await in Greater Manchester's suburbs and districts whether it be neat residential cafe districts, or blissful countryside retreats.
